First Lady Crissy Haslam, previously known as Crissy Garrett, was born in Houston, Texas. (3) She was born to the parents Chris and Ed Garrett. Crissy also had a sister named Anne Garret, who later sadly passed away in a car accident. At age 8, Crissy moved with her family to Memphis, Tennessee. (1 & 2)
After moving to Knoxville, Crissy began working as the assistant director of admissions for UT-Knoxville. Eventually Crissy decided to return to school. (1) In 1985 Crissy earned her Master of Science Degree in Education with the program of College Student Personnel. (3) Crissy continued to be very active in several community and civic groups. Bill and Crissy have three children: Annie, Leigh, and Will. Crissy became the "First Lady of Tennessee" in 2011 when her husband Bill was elected as Governor of Tennessee. (4)
